The Newfurn Training Academy is the peak specialist training provider for the floor covering industry offering the leading Apprenticeship Program for new flooring installers, Trade Card accreditation for experienced flooring installers and Master Class professional development opportunities for flooring installers, workplace trainers, sales consultants, and store owners.

The Academy is in a unique position of having direct support from the major Australian and International flooring manufacturers and distributors – our Alliance Partners. With the assistance of our Alliance Partners, the Academy has access to the best specialist trainers in the flooring industry as well as the latest information on product developments, installation techniques and industry trends to ensure that all our professional development is always of the highest standard.

Over the past few years there has been many Residential Workshops and Project Management Courses, whereby Apprentices took part in two days of classroom training, which provided them with the knowledge to undertake the range of skillsets needed to become a professional Flooring Installer. This was followed by three days of extensive hands on practical learning, one of which was at the Progress Community Hall in Coolaroo (VIC).

A fundamental aspect of the Residential Workshops is having the apprentices learn whilst providing support to the local community. As a result, the apprentices put their training into practice by replacing the old sheet vinyl, concrete and tiles with practical and hard wearing flooring solutions such as broadloom patterned carpet, safety vinyl, vinyl planks and rubber tiles at no cost to the hall.

At the conclusion of the two-year training program each apprentice will continue to be mentored by their employer and workplace supervisor. This will be supported by Digido, Newfurn’s revolutionary online learning application that will enable each apprentice to access their learning resources and submit assignments and evidence of competence via mobile technology.
